I'm pretty sure any gun will do, really.

Just wait and buy the buckshot if it gives you the mental
satisfaction. If you cant do that, just call around to some gun/ammo
stores and see what they say. I myself am using a 3" 7.5 birdshot on
the .410 which is deadly at close range and aimed right.

Hold a mouthful of water before firing the gun, the won't be much left
of your head.

Spend the money, get a 12 guage. Get some 00 buckshot. Do not use a .
410, and do not use birdshot. Birdshot is for killing birdies.
Buckshot or slugs kill people/big game.

i already bought the 410. why would i need a 12 guage? a 410 is
equivalent to a 45 cal. bullet.

i already bought the 410. why would i need a 12 guage? 0a 410 is
equivalent to a 45 cal. bullet.

.410 is roughly equivalent in diameter to a .45 bullet. A 12 guage
holds more space for powder, resulting in a more powerfull cartridge.
You could try a .410 if you'd like. Also, 12 guage will have many more
loads to choose from, making it easier to find slugs and buckshot. The
diameter of a projectile does not necessarily determine it's
lethality. Velocity and mass generally are the more important factors.
If you are dead set on a .410, go for it. I would suggest looking into
the loads for it though and finding the best for the job. Otherwise
get a 12.

I am having difficulty locating ballistic tables, but an independant
experiment here shows that a good .410 load will result in 900ft/lbs
of energy at the muzzle, where as a good 12 guage load will result in
over 1800ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle.
