CASBAA to Host Asian Satellite Communications Forum

Singapore will host the 2012 Satellite Industry Forum of the Cable and Sate=
llite Broadcasting Association of Asia on June 18. The much anticipated tra=
de convention will feature satellite communications gurus and the top playe=
rs in the Asian and international satcom broadcasting markets. The one-day =
convention will highlight market trends, opportunities and challenges in th=
e Asian satellite communications field.
Marcel Fenez, the Chairman of the Association, will deliver the welcome add=
ress along with Andrew Jordan, President and CEO of GE-SAT. An interview wi=
th Eutelsat CEO Michel de Rosen is another thing to look forward to.
Industry experts in the Asian satellite communications market will tackle t=
he effects of Asian consolidation and cooperation on the local satellite ma=
rket. The forum will also feature Mr Jodan, ABS CEO Tom Choi, Sky Perfect J=
SAT Senior EVP Inoue Osamu, NewSat CEO Adrian Ballintine and Asia Sat Presi=
dent & CEO Bill Wade. Jeremy Rose, Principal Consultant at Comsys, will ser=
ve as host.
The next round of discussion will center on the market climate in China, Vi=
etnam and Indonesia. Confirmed speakers include Ted McFarland , vice presid=
ent of GEO Satellite Communications, Orbital Communications International; =
Huang Baozhong, vice-president of APT Satellite; Pham Long Tran, chairman o=
f VNPT ; and Fu Zhiheng , vice-president of China Great Wall Industry Corpo=
ration.
Shyamal Mukherjee, Executive Director & Joint Tax Leader at PwC India, will=
give a briefing on the state of Indian cable and satellite market. India r=
anks second to China as the most promising 'growth' markets for Asian SATCO=
M services vendors. The government is steering the Indian satellite communi=
cations and cable distribution market to growth, but the country is yet to =
address major obstacles. Other speakers are Deepak Mathur, SVP of SES Comme=
rcial, Asia Pacific and Middle East unit; Ashok Venkatramani, CEO of MCCS C=
EO; Philip Balaam, vice-president of AsiaSat Business Development; and Anja=
n Mitra, executive director of CASBAA India.
CASBAA Deputy CEO John Medeiros will brief the audience on the World Radio =
